Nick and the team were incredible to work with. Responsive, flexible and accommodating to what I was looking for in the project (upgrading a small master bathroom). They came up with creative solutions to ensure it was functional yet stylish and fitting of my style and design preferences. The day to day crew was also very mindful of our need to still live in the space, and were as neat and tidy as could be. Highly recommend this team and can’t wait to start the next bathroom project!

“We hired Safe + Sound to redo our basement on 3/20/2024.”

We hired Safe + Sound to redo our basement on 3/20/2024. Work began on 4/17 (our requested start date, they were actually available to start before then); work concluded on 5/18. We had met with a couple other contractors during February and March of 2024 but we were sold on Nicolas/Safe + Sound pretty much from the get go based on both their portfolio and their past reviews, but most of all based on Nicolas' incredible responsiveness, punctuality, and accountability. He told us he'd call at 9AM to talk, and at 9AM the phone was ringing; he said he'd be over at noon for a walkthrough and at noon the doorbell dings; he promised an estimate by tomorrow and at 7AM the following morning we get it in an email. Even after we signed a contract and paid a deposit this continued — he agreed to our requested start date and they were demoing at 8:30AM that very day; he estimated that they'd be done in 4 to 5 weeks and just shy of 5 weeks they wrapped up the work (and this was after we threw in a few extras along the way). For a family with three small kids and a lot of moving pieces between work, naps, and school that kind of reliability and respect for our time meant the world. To be honest, if the end result had only turned out to be so-so it would've been worth it just for how consistent he and his team were in their communication and in meeting their deadlines. But even better, the final product exceeded all our expectations in terms of quality and cost. The main job we hired them for was redoing our basement. It involved a lot of demoing, installing new stairs, installing new lighting and wiring, extensive carpentry work on the walls and ceiling, installing new flooring, painting everything, and probably a dozen other things we've forgotten. While they were here we also hired them to replace a crumbling/collapsing concrete support for one of the corners outside of our house underneath our mudroom. It would be impossible to overstate how satisfied we were with the work done on both of these jobs and the professionalism throughout of both Nicolas and his team (particularly Matías, Tony, and Carlos). They worked efficiently and carefully, and they consulted us throughout, always taking our wants and needs seriously and finding solutions that would make us as happy as possible. They were so considerate of our little kids, and when they knew there would be particularly noisy or fumey (varnish and paint) work coming up, they gave us at least a 24 hour notice and often several days notice so that we could make accommodations if needed to be out of the home. They even delayed work or pivoted to alternate tasks when certain things would've disrupted nap schedules for our kids. I could go on and on about the details of the work (feel free to contact us directly for more), but the main takeaway is — Safe + Sound is an incredible company with wonderfully skilled and thoughtful people working for them. We highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to get work done on their home. We are so happy we hired them for these jobs and will absolutely be hiring Nicolas and his team again for any future projects. We just finished a kitchen remodel and were thrilled along every step of the process. Caren and Nick were so easy to work with and provided excellent advice, design recommendations, and materials for our project. They also exercised incredible flexibility and patience as we pivoted during the project, and added additional elements to our dream kitchen, and the rest of our first floor (and some of our second floor by the time we were done). Their crew was great and S+SDB brought in specialists where necessary so everything was handled by experts who clearly knew their craft well. All this was done on time and followed the project plan we were given on day one. It's surreal we now get to live in this house and look forward to remodeling our primary bathroom with the team soon!

For the 2nd time, working with Nick & Caren at Safe + Sound proved to be a great decision. They helped us redesign and rebuild a dated primary bathroom. We met with other companies but they either made me feel like I wasn’t good enough to do business with them or made me nervous that they would not deliver. Their ability to visualize, present and execute on a concept is impressive. They stayed on budget throughout, and were very clear about timing. The craftsmanship itself was outstanding. Another thing I liked was that you actually see them. They are involved throughout the entire project and keeping you informed to make decisions along the way (as needed). I highly recommend S+S for any project. They helped with exterior work (front face plus porch, etc) and also our primary bathroom.

Nick and Caren Isopo of Safe + Design Build are undoubtedly Chicagoland's version of the "Fixer-Uppers". They and their associates transformed an ugly and outdated bathroom to one that is breathtakingly beautiful. It is modern and elegantly designed with spectacular amenities, From a simple direction to enlarge the bathroom, provide a double sink vanity and install a jet shower system, they went to work illustrating creative and beautiful design, color and material recommendations. Work began on time and continued without delay or interruption until completion. The attention to detail was incredible. For example, the installer of the vanity took the time to carefully contour and cut a corner of the vanity unit to the curve of the base board molding for a perfect flush fit. Our bedrooms were also upgraded to luxurious, comfortable and more usable spaces. Again, the quality of the work was first-rate. The price quoted was fair. It was also right-on with the final invoice. It is our intention to remodel our kitchen, living room and dining room. We will look no where else that to Nick and Caren for an outstanding result.
