We have done bathroom renovations, a full basement remodel and a kitchen install with them and every time the project has run smoothly, on time, within budget and the finished project has always turned out exactly how we envisioned. Joel provides a clear and thorough quote, keeps us updated with all developments and ensures we are happy at every stage of the project! He has excellent taste and helps with recommendations and suggestions. Realty Design Group is always our go to company for all the projects in our home!

We hired to Realty Design Group to renovate our upstairs bathroom. Our home is over 100 years old but that bathroom was renovated probably in the 1980's and I wanted to return it to its original vintage charm. That required a full demo; moving plumbing; updating the electrical wiring; painting; and installing antique light fixtures, lots of tile (including antique trim tiles), and a stained glass window in place of the existing exterior window. Not only was the price reasonable, but everyone on the team was great to work with and very skilled (especially the tile guys!). When issues arose (like the bath tub I selected being slightly too wide for the space) Joel was always transparent and figured out solutions to fix them. We could not be happier with our bathroom!

Throughout the whole process, Bill and his sub-contractors were transparent and friendly. The quality of the work is top notch and any small bumps that came up were addressed immediately. We are thrilled with the work and would recommend Realty Design Group to anyone!

We hired Joel to finish our basement and we’d highly recommend him to anyone looking to remodel. We looked at a few other contractors/companies, and Joel gave the most transparent pricing and even included his profit and overhead as a line item. He also explained potential ways for us to save money. He spent a lot of time even before we gave him the contract in thinking about what would be the best design / layout. He made some very useful suggestions that none of the other vendors thought of. Once the project started, he was attentive and wasn’t trying to nickel and dime us, and spent the time and energy to work with us. If there was something we didn’t like, he just fixed it without fussing or making big deal. All the people he pulled in (framing, electrical, cabinets, countertop, etc) were also fantastic. For a kind of large remodel that took several months, Joel and his team made it as painless as possible.

We recently worked with Joel and RDG to complete an expansive kitchen remodel. RDG was recommended by a friend who had also had a positive experience working with them for a remodel. Our project included removal of a load bearing wall, rearranging plumbing and electric to create a large island, installation of new cabinets, and refinishing hardwood floors throughout our entire home. RDG’s strengths included a detailed scope of work and upfront pricing as well as responsive communication. Different subcontractors were at the site nearly every day and were very respectful of our home. The project was completed within Joel’s estimated timeline and budget. I have already recommended RDG to several friends and would not hesitate to use them for another remodel.

We had our bathroom redesigned. Realty Design Group and Bill Sattler were on top of our plan and full partners in the design. We kept our sink, tub and toilet but upgraded the fixtures and added glass doors in the tub area. We still needed all the contract trades: electrician, carpenter, plumber, tiler, hvac, painter. Realty Design Group and Bill did an amazing job coordinating them! While it took a while to complete such a small room, there wasn’t a day that someone wasn’t working on it. All of the contractors were respectful and professional AND they did an excellent job. We highly recommend Realty Design Group!

My husband and I worked with Joel Heilman of Realty Design Group to remodel our condo in Wicker Park. Joel helped us demo our existing kitchen, including removing an outdated looking "step" in the kitchen counter, and install new cabinets from Builders Cabinet Supply (Joel's recommendation, which turned out to be excellent). The cabinets were well-installed, perfectly level with meticulous finishing. He also helped us install a new kitchen sink, put in built ins by our fireplace, replace lighting throughout and a few other small jobs. His pricing was fair (and accurate, he did not charge us more than his initial bid, even though we had a few small changes as work went on). He also kept to the schedule that he promised. He finished on time, with meticulous results. He was prompt and responsive to all of our emails. He came to personally oversee our work and the job site was always left tidy. I've worked with several other contractors in Chicago before, but would never use anyone other than Joel again. The work was so good that every offer we received on our condo mentioned the stunning kitchen. I could not recommend Joel/Realty Design Group more highly.

“Bill and his team are the rock starts of remodeling.”

Bill and his team are the rock starts of remodeling. Our house was literally run down, with peeling paint and splinters from the hardwood floor to a rotting master bath. They did an amazing job! What impressed us the most was that Bill had some fantastic ideas of how to improve the usability of our living space, so that the work was not just all aesthetic. Also I'm pretty sure he has a photographic memory. His team (Andy, Mike, Paul, and many more) executed the remodel with professionalism and excellence and any issues we had were taken care of in a timely manner. Would highly recommend!

My partner and I renovated the downstairs floor of our new townhome and Bill Sattler's team handled every step of the process from the demo to the finishing touches. The core of our renovation was installing a new kitchen, re-doing a bathroom, and installing flooring. We are very happy with how the renovation worked out. At the start of the process we took bids from four contractors and Mr. Sattler's bid was competitive and he was the only contractor who really listened to how we wanted to use our space, our constraints, and our stylistic preferences. Mr. Sattler clearly has a wealth of knowledge in construction and design and was helpful in gently pushing back on some of my bad ideas (like cold concrete floors!) while accentuating my partner's excellent ideas. My partner was extremely hands on in selecting furnishings and finishing details. Additionally, the project stuck to the timetable and budget! Some of our peers who have started renovations during COVID have had long delays and we did not experience this at all. In particular, at the start of the project he created and explained to us a detailed timeline about when we needed to finalize certain decisions and this avoided bottlenecks. Additionally, Andy, our project manager, was excellent. He explained a lot of specific details to us about the house that helped us refine our design. Andy and Bill are a very effective, collegial team. The only slight negative, was that sometimes the work schedule was amended on a short notice and we would be notified a day before/day of workers would arrive. Overall, we were very pleased with the process and outcome and would recommend Bill Sattler and his team at Realty Design Group.
