I worked with Jon at Cityscape Landscape to transform our city backyard into a functional and beautiful space for our family. We’ve worked with our fair share of contractors and this was by far the easiest and most enjoyable experience yet. Jon was extremely easy to communicate with and I appreciate the time he took to get our vision right while also staying within our budget. The crew was very respectful and you can tell they are experienced. Since having our yard redone in early spring, it feels like we added to the square footage of our house because we are always outside enjoying our new, functional space. I have recommended Cityscape to all of my friends and we plan to use them again when we tackle our front yard.

Cityscape Landscape went above and beyond what we had dreamed for our city backyard! They removed our rotting wood deck and built a beautiful stone patio and faux wood landing. They also repaired our fence and installed safety rails around our backyard basement staircase and two new gates. Their entire team was professional, considerate, thoughtful and dedicated. They were respectful of our neighbors, fielded all of our many questions, and were highly attentive to all of the details. My two children are constantly asking to go play in the new yard because it has become such a kid-friendly, relaxing, and versatile space. It is an oasis in the city, and we couldn't be more pleased!

“Jon Klaas and his team are incredible.”

Jon Klaas and his team are incredible! This was my third project with Jon and he delivered again. This latest project included removing a beat up lawn in my front yard and replacing it with pavers, privacy shrubs and a bench as well. Jon as always was very responsive, helpful with recommendations on colors / design and efficient all around. Jon and crew got started on a Monday afternoon and wrapped up by Wednesday morning. I don't ever leave reviews for anything, but felt that Cityscape deserved the recognition so was inspired to leave my first ever review. I 100% recommend their services and plan to use them again for future projects.

The entire front was leveled/graded and sprinklers, trees, low voltage lighting, and sod was added. Not only was Tim patient with working with a HOA, but his follow-ups post project, communication, and passion for doing great work was a wonderful experience which will leave our front yard looking great for the next couple of decades.

We finally pulled the trigger to upgrade our outdoor space (like everyone else these days!). At the end of February 2021, I reached out to a few landscape design companies around Chicago; Ed from Cityscape was the first to respond. He took the time to understand our goal to create a space with more privacy, plenty of greenery and clever use of available space with a contemporary design elements. He co-developed a plan with me and after a few iterations had a solid proposal covering irrigation, gas & electric, plants, turf, fiberglass and a lot of aluminum and steel! This probably took longer than I had anticipated, but in hindsight it was likely also a good thing because there were plenty of details I hadn't initially thought through. During the project, I enjoyed his easy-going and pragmatic work style; he checked in regularly to discuss key decisions and also had a great crew that really seemed to enjoy working with him. To me that's important, because it will reflect in the quality and attention to detail of the final product; it takes a whole team to pull it together. By labor day the project was complete and we were able to enjoy our awesome outdoor space (including a lower level play area for the kids) into late summer. I would highly recommend Ed & Cityscape for your next outdoor project.

We worked with Jon, Tomas, Salomon and the rest of the team on a relatively extensive outdoor patio and stone platform with stairs down to it. We included electrical outlets, gas lines for fire, heater and grill hookups and a screen around the air conditioners. The team communicated well, was very attentive, and did high quality work. This was not a couple of layers of sand and then pavers. There was extensive grading, stone foundations, layers of aggregate, coordination with electricians, plumbers and welders - it was a big job for a residence. We are very happy with the results. Jon was very patient with us as we adjusted the designs, had his own suggestions and ultimately helped bring our vision to life by being very regularly present at the job site. Cityscape was not cheap, but we could see the amount of work that was done and the care taken to complete it, and we've already gotten a lot of value from the results. Special thanks to the team who was there most days for several weeks working around the irrigation system, preserving hardy board siding so we could patch things up later, working in the summer heat and trying very hard to be responsive to our questions/concerns/requests and not be annoyed when I was outside checking out what they were doing.
