I am sitting on my new porch rocker enjoying a cup of coffee, and thinking about how well the frame and cushion on it match and compliment my existing furniture and pillows. Colors look so different in person compared to on a website! “We purchased a house in Northbrook, IL after moving from Indiana due to a job change.”

We purchased a house in Northbrook, IL after moving from Indiana due to a job change. The house, a 1960’s colonial, we bought was in need of updating, but had enough room for our family of 6 and had a large backyard where our kids could play. We liked the proximity to my husband’s job and the schools for our kids was a good fit. Unfortunately, the kitchen needed an overhaul; we didn’t even have a pantry. We knew that we needed a professional to help us in the process. We were introduced to Katharine Andrews Interiors (KAI) and loved Katie’s plans from the start. We were looking for a large island where our entire family could sit and of course better flow and function within the space. We are an active family, and function is key for us. KAI designed a new kitchen, dining room, and laundry room layout where we could see both 2D and 3D drawings. She also provided us with concept boards, which I loved and were very helpful to see options side by side. KAI was instrumental in all phases of the project. During the project, KAI communicated with the millworkers and contractors to manage the project effectively and maintaining the design scheme by providing them with architectural drawings and concept boards with instructions and diagrams. KAI helped us choose everything for the project, from cabinets and pulls to our island seating and new window coverings for the space. We couldn’t be happier with our space and the choices that were made during the project. The detail spent on the “small things” completed the space and took it to the next level. On a consistent basis, KAI demonstrated a high level of precision and attention to detail which sets KAI apart from other interior designers. She used her problem-solving skills and expertise numerous times during the project and we are so grateful for our beautiful and functional space! We cannot wait to have Katie help us with our next home project!
