I was thrilled to use Jean’s creativity and talents on renovating not just my coop on Lake Shore Drive but also my home a year later in Bonita Bay, Florida. Her best skills show doing large renovations, knocking out walls, rearranging baths and kitchens to incorporate everything new and modern, getting rid of the dated and unnecessary. We managed to turn a two bedroom unit into a four bedroom for when the kids come home, hiding a Murphy queen into a storage closet in a  "pass through” room which was otherwise only for storage. We also turned the library into another bedroom, using pocket doors, black-out roman shades made out of toile to match the wallpaper, and a comfy air dream bed in the sofa. The guest bath next to this library has a shower tucked behind a wallpapered door that looks like a wall. So an apartment that looks like it has only two bedrooms turns into a four bedroom family flat for the holidays. Jean is great at project management- getting things ordered and done in logical sequence and ON TIME. I love how she layers windows with trimmed draperies and natural material shades, matching headboards, and the like. She has all the best people to do finishes on everything and uses the best materials- within reason.  We worked within a budget and I knew what things would cost before proceeding so I could decide how to spend my money.  But in the end, I was so happy I did spend the little bit extra because I live with the fabulous results daily. My favorite thing she did was put a banquette in under the kitchen windows instead of leaving my sink there. We moved the sink to a different part of the kitchen and I now have a gorgeous upholstered seating area in the kitchen to have breakfast, work on the computer, and watch TV from the bookshelves above the seating area. In Florida, I had a different problem. Instead of fitting in many extras to a small space, we had a large house with huge rooms we needed to fill. Together, we managed to set out seating and sleeping arrangements to pull the rooms together. Although I did much of the purchases and decorating myself, and there was nothing to renovate as the house was fairly new, I still needed help with the layout of the most important rooms. Jean came down and in three very full days, we had everything figured out and written out. Without her help, I would have been spinning my wheels on what to put where from my old house in Lake Forest, and what else I needed to buy. Jean made it all so easy and fun. I really enjoyed the process of designing the homes and am so pleased with the outcome of both places. She is now helping my daughter with her downtown one bedroom, again just a few hours to do this and that. Worth every penny.

Jean has decorated two of my homes. Jean is very creative and has great design concepts to create a chic and polished look for her clients. My first home she assisted with all design aspects from furniture and art selection to fabrics, paint and wall coverings, and even our dishware. My second home was a full renovation of an old loft. Jean and her team worked seamlessly until the job was complete. Jean updated the entire loft with high gloss walls, picture frame molding, cararra marble bathrooms, chevron carpet and the most beautiful glass tiled kitchen backsplash. She built all my closets to be vertical and utilized the most creative pulls, step ladders, and other accessories to maximize the space of a closet in a city loft! Jean's team was so friendly and nice, they accessed my home even when I was not there and left everything impeccable at each day's end! Even my dog loved them by the time the job was complete! I would highly recommend Atchison Architectural Interiors!
